Koyori

Edaha

An inspiration from the shapes of branches and leaves that creates the smoothly curved Edaha chair.

"We wanted to create a structure that gently supported the suspended seat just like a leaf on a branch. The project was an industrial challenge, a concept that would challenge materials and technologies."

The Edaha Chair is made entirely from veneer wood, and we aimed for it to both look industrialized and yet express the beauty of nature. We used the collaboration with Koyori, which celebrates Japanese craftsmanship, to explore the possibilities of wood and to reinterpret some of its own Danish design heritage. Borrowing from forms in nature, we  envisaged the veneer seat shell as a leaf supported by the "branches" of the chair's frame.
